About This Book

When cancer brought Nomita Kapur’s ‘active days to a halt’, her universe shifted, without warning. Gradually, over months, she found her balance again, a different, deeper balance. From that pause—’a deeply reflective space’ that helped her reclaim her life, and understand the true meaning of recovery—emerged the poems collected in this quietly remarkable book. In sharing her experience and the discoveries she made, she empowers us with this collection; for, in our different ways, we are all in recovery. ‘[Days of Recovery] will help anyone connect themselves with the perennial truth: life is precious; knowing in what sense it is precious is a big achievement; not knowing is a big loss.’—Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Chairman & Spiritual Head, Himalayan Institute ‘We all have two citizenships, Susan Sontag reminds us: in the land of health and in its dark twin. Nomita Kapur brings us despatches from both. This is a journey of discovery that will move you. A journey of recovery that may empower you.’—Jerry Pinto ‘Nomita’s poems are a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to heal and find meaning. Being a cancer survivor myself, her words resonate deeply with me. The courage to share her thoughts and vulnerabilities touched my heart; her poems will give great insight and hope to many.’—Nafisa Ali

About The Author

Nomita Kapur is an author and poet based in New Delhi. An alumnus of Delhi School of Economics, she began her career in the corporate sector. Fascinated by human behaviour, she became a corporate trainer and thereafter a professor of Organizational Behaviour. Along with deepening her academic interests, she currently studies scriptures of Indian philosophy under the guidance of her spiritual teacher. Nomita describes herself as a citizen of the world, yet remains deeply rooted in the ethos of her own culture and eastern wisdom traditions. Her first published work, Drop by Drop, is a collection of essays reflecting her deep interest in human existence while melding eastern wisdom with modern-day life. Having taught and trained individuals across age groups, Nomita now shares her love for teaching through her writing—both prose and poetry—and her social media presence.
